Colleges of Education are unable to feed students due to the skyrocketing cost of food.

Colleges of Education across the nation are suffering as a result of their inability to feed teacher candidates due to the rapid rise in food prices.

The inability of the government to raise food funding to the schools, according to the Conference of Principals of the Colleges (PRINCOF), has made the situation worse.

They requested permission from the Ministry to let the children be on their own beginning November 7 in a letter sent to the Education Minister.

Due to recent market changes, "principals of colleges of education have been working extremely hard to support trainee teachers.

The letter dated October 31 indicated that food prices have skyrocketed and that food suppliers have refused to provide any food to colleges due to their debts to them.

The Principals claim that because their request for an upward review of the feeding grant was denied, it is getting harder for them to feed the students three times a day for $6.50, which is why they are asking the pupils to eat on their own.

"In light of the foregoing, PRINCOF requests authorization to require students to begin providing for themselves. This is to prevent disruption of the already strained school year, they implored.
